Network celebrates Week of the Young Child

From April 5-11, the Community Impact Network joined the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and other organizations around the country in celebrating the Week of the Young Child.

The annual event, organized by NAEYC, celebrates early learning, young children, their teachers, families and communities. Early childhood education is one of the Network’s four impact areas.

Studies show that effective early childhood education programs can reduce gaps that often put children at a disadvantage, and children are more likely to have positive educational and professional outcomes if they enter kindergarten ready to learn. From pre-natal care to support for parents to developmental screenings at a young age, Network members are doing everything they can to set 24:1 children up for success.

The Network celebrated various aspects of early childhood education throughout the week, including the importance of advocacy. The Network’s Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn accounts highlighted Child Advocacy Day in Missouri, which took place April 2. Early childhood education proponents visited Jefferson City to speak with lawmakers. Tina Mosley and Taylor Paquette from S.T.A.R for Early Childhood Educators were in attendance this year, visiting with state Sens. Angela Mosley and Steve Roberts.

The Network wrapped up the Week of the Young Child by asking local child care providers what the term “quality child care” means to them. Their replies are below.
