Details

Description

What to wear: close-toed shoes, bring a water bottle, and wear clothes that you are not afraid to get dirty.

Provided: Reusable gloves, trash bags, vests, hand picker tools, dumpster, port-a potty, and brush removal

Agenda for event:

  • Volunteers are greeted, provided with equipment, introduced to the neighborhood and important history and context offered by local nonprofit and community partners.
  • Earth 365 provides safety training and education on what is recyclable and compostable.
  • The volunteers are then divided into groups of up to 8 people led by zone captains to tackle identified problem areas or littered routes.
  • Everyone returns after 3 hours to celebrate together with tasty treats by local chefs.
  • There will be a circle talk to discuss illegal dumping after the clean-up. Topics will include ending illegal dumping, transforming trash to art, and next action steps.
  • We will be promoting free dumpster access to area residents to clear out any large items that may otherwise end up illegally dumped.
