Network Picnic examines food access in St. Louis region

On June 12, the Network changed up the format of its usual monthly meeting — by taking it outside. The first-ever Network Picnic focused on the importance of food access in the 24:1 and St. Louis region.
Earnest Wills (pictured above) from Claudie’s Urban Gardens taught attendees how to plant and care for vegetables in a home garden, and Chef Bill Heillige from Propel Kitchens led a demonstration of how to make a simple and healthy pasta salad with fresh ingredients.

Network members in attendance said they enjoyed their time learning about this important topic. Heather Craig, RESPOND Targeted Recruiter at the Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition, praised the Network for holding trainings like this.
“I don’t feel like there is any topic that they are not ready to tackle, any problem that they are not ready to help us solve,” Craig said of the Network. “They really partner alongside the community and find ways to make things doable for families. I can’t speak enough about the great things that are done at the Community Impact Network.”
