Second Session of Nonprofit Sustainability Series Brings the Fundraising Pieces Together

Network Member organizations and professionals gathered at the Community Impact Network on May 14, for the second installment of the Nonprofit Sustainability Series, Building a Fundraising Plan That Works.
RaiseUp Collaborative consultants Merideth Friedman and Sarah Mellinger facilitated the session, sharing strategies to help nonprofit organizations strengthen and develop effective fundraising plans.
Building on the first session held in March, which focused on fundraising principles such as philanthropy basics, ethics and donor relationship-building, the second workshop gave participants the opportunity to apply those concepts and learn how to bring the pieces together to create strong, sustainable fundraising plans for their organizations.
Topics explored during the workshop included:
- Creating a metric-driven development plan by identifying leadership roles and building a team
- Reviewing monthly budget projections using data-driven strategies
- Developing a fundraising dashboard to track goals and progress
During the workshop, attendees also participated in creating a fundraising plan for an annual gala. The exercise included identifying potential fundraising streams and goals and outlining projected event expenses and revenue.
As the session concluded, RaiseUp Collaborative emphasized the importance of collaboration and organization-wide teamwork in building a successful annual fundraising plan.
“You can build a plan, but if the team that helped you build that plan doesn’t help you achieve it, then it will struggle,” said Sarah Mellinger of RaiseUp Collaborative. “There’s not one thing in fundraising that is a solo activity, not one.”
Thank you to Merideth Friedman and Sarah Mellinger of RaiseUp Collaborative for facilitating the first two sessions of our Nonprofit Sustainability Series.
